Thursday Seafood Night at The Address Hotel, Dubai Mall.
Did I tell you about my latest intense interest in oysters? It’s a rather severe case of “look-whos-all-fancy-now”, but to be really honest – I go nuts over it whenever I see them in buffet spreads. In fact, its one of my fool-proof ways of ensuring I make the most of the buffet, because of course, the little things are so unbearably expensive to go a la carte.
So now you know why I got excited on the seafood night review invite at The Address Hotel, Dubai Mall. Food is one thing that Address has always been able to impress us with, consistently. Naturally, my expectations were high and that meant chances for disappointment were high. Nevertheless, the seafood night was every bit a delicious affair, no matter which zones of the buffet you took into account.
The spread is designed to impress. Seafood soup and clam chowders, cold cut meats and shellfish on ice. A selection of vinaigrettes based on red & white wines, mango and tomato tempted to bring some extra zing to your oysters and clams. Grills carried lip-smacking good lobsters and giant shrimps. A huge fish whose identity evades me, was displayed on the counter to scream seafood – just in case you had any doubts. Mains menu consisted of rice based dishes, Thai fish curry, grilled salmon, teriyaki fish, roasted chicken and obviously more. The salad bar was lavish with ceviche, tartare, shrimp cocktails and the likes of Octopus Carpaccio. The sushi counter was just about average, but you’d rather focus on the fresh fish grills, coz let’s face it – that’s what you are at a seafood buffet for. Let’s just respect that!

Whoever plans the dessert menus at the Emaar Hotels deserves a hug from me, and a tight one at that! It’s highly unlikely that you would be disappointed, as there is an array of cakes, tarts and puddings to seek your interest. The biggest mind battle I endured was to whether feed myself yet another round of oysters, or to dive into the chocolate cake that looked good enough to get married to.

So, one word for Na3Na3’s seafood night buffet? SLURP. Easily one amazing spread full worth the money charged. Now if only they changed the music system to make the live music more enjoyable…But then rest easy, you might just not notice it amidst the clatter of the crabs on your plate. Dig in, my friend. Dig in!
