Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana – Iftar sights.
At the onset of Ramadan, I was invited to the special Iftar for bloggers and press at the Liwan restaurant, the all-day dining spot at Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana. Of spacious interiors and elegant decors, the restaurant created a soothing ambience with the gentle splash of water from the wall fountain and warm lighting. Here is a visual display of some of the delicacies that were offered to us as part of Liwan’s Iftar Buffet. Enjoy!
What I liked…
The lamb ouzi. Literally falling off the bone material. The rice was perfectly cooked and the flavor and fragrance were spot-on. Ditching the silly knife and fork, the friendly and efficient server suited up in gloves to pull the tender meat apart and serve you your favorite pieces.
Shawarma station. Announced in a black slate with white chalk, the shawarma station was temptingly set-up, and thankfully, the sizes were not humongous.
The Moroccan tea station, with beautiful colored glasses, bunches of fresh mint leaves and hills (yes, hills.) of sugar, created quite an ambience.
What I did not like…
Unfortunately, the desserts section did not live up to its glamour. The meringue tart looked gorgeous, but desperately needed more whipping for the sugar granules to powder and blend in. The mango mousse in tiny cones was a winner though. Some more attention to the desserts and a tad more perfection in couple of the dishes would surely make this Iftar experience a great deal for AED 149 per person.
